International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Violence against women and girls remains one of the most widespread and devastating human rights violations worldwide. It affects physical and mental health, limits opportunities, and undermines the well-being and safety of communities.

This observance raises awareness and calls for urgent action to prevent and eliminate gender-based violence in all its forms. It also marks the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, a global campaign uniting individuals, organizations, and governments to demand accountability, strengthen protections, and support survivors.
